July Book Haul

Helloo Everyone,

After a whole two months of not buying a single book, I've finally been able to get some and tick them off my wish list *YAY* and as I've been very excited to do this post I'm just going to get straight into it if you don't mind. You don't? Okay let's go!

Armada by Ernest Cline

I had been looking forward to this book for sooo long and I was a right eager beaver that I even pre-ordered it so I would received it on the day of release.. definitely not sorry haha! I really tried not compare it to Ernest's previous book Ready Player One which you guys will know is one of my favourite books but it wasn't easy. I don't want to give too much away but if you think you'd enjoy a sci-fi story about video games and aliens then this could be the book for you! My review on this book is coming later on this month so don't miss it!

Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill

This book has been talked about so much it's unreal. I've also read quite a few reviews and a lot of them say the same thing: #1 it's great but depressing and #2 the less you know about the book before you read, the better. Which is kind of strange for that many people to actually agree on but I'll go along with it! All I do know is that it's a dystopian fantasy where women are no longer born naturally, in fact they're genetically engineered solely to please men. Scary or what? I'll definitely be letting you know what I think of this one, take my word for it you'll want to know haha!

Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig

The title pretty much sums it up already but why did I choose it? Well I was really intrigued by the author.. He talks about him being close to committing suicide and why he didn't go through with it. Don't worry it's actually more upbeat than it sounds! Also, I feel like I don't read enough non-fiction so this is exhibit A to me changing that.

I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak

I'm not going to lie to you, the main reason I bought this because was because how much I loved The Book Thief. I know it won't be the same as such but I love his writing style so I took the plunge! The blurb for me only repeats the title so I'm not quite sure what to expect.. it's exciting!

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Of course I'm going to buy at least one historical fiction book, it wouldn't be me if I didn't! I decided not to read reviews for this book but not for any particular reason, just wanted to go in only with my opinion to think about! Did you know this book won the Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Historical Fiction in 2014? Doesn't really change my thoughts but it's a bonus right?

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I haven't mentioned this on my blog yet but I guess there's no time like the present; me and six other others have come together to organise a fundraising event (how exciting is that?) to raise money for Readathon Charity who donates books to seriously ill children in hospitals across the UK. So what has it got to with this book? WELL we will all be taking part in a 24 hour read-a-thon in October and the seven of us each picked a book we'd like to read and put it on a voting poll, and this was my choice! But of course to read the book I would actually need to buy it hence it being in my book haul haha! Let's see if it wins?

Paperweight by Meg Haston

I was kindly sent this by the publisher in exchange for a review and as it was my first ARC it was quite exciting! Of course this didn't affect my views on the book but you guys will probably know that already! Anyway, as you may have read from my recent review this book talks about various issues like family dilemmas, relationships and mental health all wrapped up in a gripping rollercoaster of a story. Trust me, I wouldn't lie to you!

Did you buy any books in July? Have you read any of these books, if so what are you thoughts? Comment below and let me know as I'm always on the look out for finding new books to lose myself into haha! I hope you're all having a great summer so far and I'll see you soon :)

Do you have Goodreads? If so you can check out all my books here!
