August TBR

Helloo Everyone,

I'm back again! So as August has already started, I thought I would quickly let you all know what books I'll be reading this month. It may sound sad but I'm quite excited to be reading on my Kindle again as it seems like ages since I last did; paperbacks are taking over my life haha! Well I don't want to toot my own horn or anything but I think I've picked some pretty good ones for August, let's see if you guys will agree?

The Bletchley Girls by Tessa Dunlop

I discovered this little beauty while I was at Bletchley Park last week and it's the book I never knew I wanted! If you're unsure what Bletchley Park is let me explain: it's a historical computing museum in Milton Keynes, previously the UK's Government Code and Cypher School, dedicated to all the men and women codebreakers like Alan Turing during World War II (you can always get fun random facts on my blog hehe). The reader follows the stories of 15 women who worked for the most secret World War II organization. Now c'mon if you aren't hooked by that then I don't think you ever will be haha!

It's Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini

The amazing Emmie from Carpe Diem Emmie and I decided to do a book swap during the summer, because we're cool like that, and this is the book I'll be receiving from her! I've been wanting to read this book for ages so when I found out that she had this book I was pretty happy! The story centers around Craig Gilner, a guy who ends up staying at a mental hospital after he experiences a suicidal episode and we follow him while he confronts the sources of his anxiety. Maybe you recognise it because they released a film based on this exact book in 2010 (I'm on a roll with all these facts). Keep an eye out for a post on this book and our book swap coming up soon!

The Big Lie* by Julie Mayhew

Like I mentioned in my Anticipated Book Pre-Orders post a couple of weeks ago, I have been looking forward to this book being released later on this month for while now so when I finally got my hands on it, I couldn't help getting a little giddy haha! This story is set in a contemporary Nazi England while exploring issues involving friendships, sexuality and belief. From what I've seen already I can imagine it becoming quite big once it's released but I'll read the book first and let you know if I'm right hehe!

Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill

You may have seen this book featured in my July book haul but if not I'm sure you've noticed it roaming around social media especially as it's become popular in the booktube community. I decided early on to read this book last because I've been told I might feel a little traumatised afterwards although it's meant to be a very clever read! Let me know if you would like me to review this book and I'll be sure to do it.
